This site and information contained within it
This website has information regarding mould health concerns (and possible mould health concerns) that my family and pets suffered from (2004 to 2009), how we identified the problem, and possible resources available to address the problem.
My family is based in Canberra, Australia. However, various resources listed in this website may also be of assistance to those located elsewhere.
In this website I am only recounting my own family’s experience. It is possible that some afflictions were not mould-related: although an old problem, this is apparently quite a new health field in Australia at least (but not in places such as Canada, as I have discovered, where it is apparently well-recognised).
I am aware of one GP in Canberra who is aware of the significant impact of moulds on health. It is nice to finally speak to someone who immediately recognises when environmental contaminants are an issue.
As I recall more about our experiences, or when I am given helpful information, I will update this website accordingly. If I become aware of other resources throughout the rest of Australia, I will list them.
I am not attempting to give health or mould remediation advice. Contacts and resources listed in this website are not intended to be recommendations. They are listed as a starting point, and I suggest you do your own research so that you are able to make fully informed decisions when addressing mould or its complications. I do wish you the very best. Please contact me via this website if you have any concerns and I will attempt to assist you, although please note that I am not a health practitioner of any kind.
**Just a quick update for 2012 – we are still getting better, but do remember that merely moving out of your mouldy residence or workplace alone may not be enough to help you get better. In addition to the Canberra GP who I have stated above is concerned about mould-health issues, I am now aware of one GP in Sydney who is also very concerned by mould-health issues. I have also updated a few of the links on the home page (which had become obsolete). I will attempt to “clean up” the other links on this site as soon as I can find the time. Finally, there are lots of mould/mold support groups on Facebook. I find them a little too much to cope with and no longer belong to any, however you may find them of some assistance, particularly if you’re feeling alone. Just search “mold” or “mould” on Facebook and see what you come up with. The Global Indoor Health Network also has a Facebook page.
